The first ever "Salsa Saturday" (that's the working title) on January 12 2008 at the Majestic Theater on King St in Madison WI: El Clan Destino and Grupo Candela, with DJ Papi Love. It will be an 18+ show, very likely with dancing instruction early in the evening. Between the two bands and DJ, there will be plenty of music for everyone's varied tastes.

We've been known to transform the room from a packed audience of polite listeners to a frenzied crowd of table clearing dancers. The past few times we played at the King Club, we generated so much buzz that for our next gig they granted us a highly coveted weekend spot, usually reserved for the harder rock bills. Sometimes it takes a while to overlook the classical and jazz training that our band members have received (endured?). Make no mistake: El Clan Destino is our chance to distill every ounce of musical knowledge we have and put it to use for the greater good: to rock, to shred, to pound the audience's ears into submission and to get everyone on their feet for hours of relentless Cuban street dancing. (Don't you dare tell us you sat through our entire show.) This time around, our friends in Trio Elétrico will give you further incentive to stomp your feet, Brazillian style.
Invite as many people as you know. Pass the word. We're launching a Cuban/Brazillian hybrid party, and we want you to be there.

The wonderful folks at Restaurant Magnus are having us back yet again. We consistently pack their room to capacity, so plan to arrive early to be guaranteed a seat. We don't want to turn away fans, but if the bar is filled, the restaurant staff will offer seating in the dining area, where you can still hear the music. But we'd rather you see every drop of perspiration flying off Nick's face....

What can we say? We absolutely love playing the King Club. From the start, we've always wanted to step outside that comfortable label of "latin jazz", and the KC allows us to blow it to smithereens. Don't get us wrong, the band members all have great respect for the latin jazz genre. It's just that it doesn't work at the high decibels we demand. We will never diminish the KC's reputation as a rock club.
Opening band: Actual Proof. These guys tore it up the last time they opened for us at the KC. Expect no less this time.
